Roy D. Navis, 79, of Shelbyville, died at 8:27 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2007 in Shelbyville Manor.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg with Rev. Michael Mohr officiating. Visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Strasburg is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer Unit of Shelbyville Manor.
Mr. Navis was born on September 12, 1927 in Shelby County, Illinois, the son of Walter Loyd and Esther H. Doehring Navis. He worked for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville and later retired from Brach’s Candy in Sullivan. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg. He married Dolores Reed in February 1947. She died on July 25, 1964. He married Geneieve Grove Schultz on January 27, 1991.
Surviving are his wife, Geneieve of Shelbyville; son, Don Navis of Decatur; daughters, Deanna Durbin and husband Gary of Mt. Zion, Linda Sparling and husband Mike of Toledo, Becky Ballinger and fiancé Jim Banning of Neoga, Rita Ballinger of Decatur and Marla Myers and husband Bill of Nashotah, WI; step-sons, Troy Schultz of Effingham, Tony Schultz and wife Sara of Shelbyville, Tommy Schultz and wife Jill of Shelbyville and Stacy Schultz of Shelbyville; step-daughters, Penny Auburn and husband Gary of Shelbyville, Susan Harris and husband Henry of Mode and Tina Wade and husband Dennis of Findlay; 11 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one step-great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; son-in-law, Gary Ballinger; brother, Gene Navis; grandson, Mikie Sparling; and granddaughter, Lisa Sparling.
