Gertrude A. Walker
(July 17, 1909 - January 14, 2008)

Gertrude A. Walker, 98, of Shelbyville, died Monday, January 14, 2008 in Shelbyville Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Jeff Grote officiating. Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Shelbyville.

Mrs. Walker was born on July 17, 1909 in Tower Hill, Illinois, the daughter of Emmel and Jennie Eskew Bube. She was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1925. She later graduated from Sparks Business College in Shelbyville and attended the University of Illinois. She worked for many years for Craig Abstract Company in Shelbyville. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Shelbyville and the Shelbyville Country Club. She was active in the Vine Street School P.T.A., Shelbyville Hospital Auxiliary and was an avid bridge player. She married Wallace Lane Walker on December 27, 1930 in Decatur. He died on May 6, 1981.

Surviving are her son, Dick Walker of Lake Oswego, OR; daughter, Judith Brewer and husband Jeff of West Lafayette, IN; sister-in-law, Jane Bube of Arlington Heights, IL; five grandchildren, Jeffrey J. Dunscomb of West Lafayette, IN, Brian R. Dunscomb of Noblesville, IN, Julie A. Dunscomb of Urbana, IL, James L. Dunscomb of Greenwood, IN and Teri L. Smith of Portland, OR; and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lane; granddaughter, Jodi Walker; brothers, Ross Beube and Maurell Bube; and sister, Marjorie Munsell.
