Michael R. Jones

Michael Robert “Mike” Jones, 59, of Shelbyville, died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2009 in his residence.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, following cremation there will be no services. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society
Mike was born on March 15, 1949 in Shelbyville, Illinois, the son of Robert Forrest and Evelyn Marie Wilson Jones. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1967. Mike was a cycle counter in the warehouse at International Paper in Shelbyville. He previously worked for Leach-Wilson Chevrolet Buick in Shelbyville and Phillips Petroleum in Forsythe, IL. Mike was an avid fan of USAC Sprint Car Racing and former sprint car driver, Chuck Amati. He enjoyed going to races all over, but his favorite track was Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN. Mike also liked to go rabbit hunting with his beagles. He was a member of Moose Lodge #1294 of Shelbyville.
Surviving are his daughter, Alison Hubner and husband Roscoe of Shelbyville; father, Robert F. Jones of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Dylan and Paige Hubner; cousins, Carol Jent and husband Lonnie of Sullivan and Doug Jent and wife Wendy of Tuscola; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn on November 27, 2008.
