Vivian K. Sherwood

Vivian Louise (Kessel) Sherwood, 84, of Shelbyville, died at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Lee Lovett officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville or the Shelby County Senior Center.
Mrs. Sherwood was born on August 27, 1925 in Windsor, Illinois, the daughter of Fred C. and Jane Hudson Kessel. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1942. She married Sidney C. Sherwood on July 20, 1942 in St. Charles, Missouri. They owned and operated Sid’s Restaurant and later Finn’s Restaurant both in Sullivan, Illinois. Vivian worked in the payroll department of Caterpillar, Inc. in Decatur, Illinois until her retirement and then became a representative for Mary Kay Cosmetics. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, Shelby County Home Extension and Shelby Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was an avid bridge and duplicate bridge player.
Surviving are her sons, Sidney Sherwood, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Sartell, Minnesota and Ron Sherwood and wife Alexandra of Paducah, Kentucky; daughters, Cheryl Sherwood of Fort Worth, Texas and Carol Wilson and husband Ken of Shelbyville; brothers, Albert Kessel and wife Maxine of Forrest, OH, Burl Kessel of Lakewood and Fred Kessel and wife Linda of Shelbyville; sister, Mary Jane Taylor of Decatur; brother-in-law, Paul Sherwood of Congress, Arizona; ten grandchildren, (Sid’s children) Kim and Rhonda, (Ron’s children) Shannon, Stacey, Peter and Melissa, (Cheryl’s daughter) Trissy and (Carol’s children) Carisa, Kenton and Cailin; ten great grandchildren, Brittany, Taylor, Breanna, Kaylee, Dax, Haley, Jacob, Carson, Gary and Murriah; and one great great grandson, Taven.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sidney C. Sherwood, Sr. on December 27, 1997; daughter-in-law, Anna Faye Sherwood; and three sisters, Edith Storey, Beulah Hentz and Vera Halbrook.
