Theron M. Tallman
(March 20, 1922 - March 12, 2012)

Theron Millot Tallman, 89, of Shelbyville, formerly of Decatur, IL, died at 6:40 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 in Shelby Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Cheri Richardson officiating. Visitation from noon – 1:45 p.m. Friday with Masonic rites at 1:45 p.m. by Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 of Shelbyville. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Kemmerer Village or Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.

Theron was born on March 20, 1922 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Leo Emery and Garnet Velda Millot Tallman. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1940. He worked at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA from 1940-1944. Theron was drafted into the Army on June 24, 1944 and fought in France and Germany with the 106th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron during WW II. On June 6, 1946 he was received an Honorable Discharge from the Army at Camp Beale, California. He married Fae Aileen Yakey on July 29, 1948. Theron then worked for Ann Arbor/Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville and Battle Creek, MI from 1948 - 1956. In 1956, he began working at Caterpillar Corporation in Decatur, IL and retired as a Quality Manager on October 1, 1983. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Decatur, IL, where he served as Trustee, Treasurer and Elder. Theron was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 of Shelbyville, Consistory 32nd Degree of Danville, Ansar Shrine Temple of Springfield, Shrine Hospital Unit and Decatur Shrine Club. He was also a member of American Legion Post #105, Elks Lodge #401, Moose Lodge #684 and Golden K Kiwanis Club all of Decatur, IL. He enjoyed cars and motorcycles and had a great passion for photography.

He is survived by his son, Bradley Jay Tallman and wife Terry of Shelbyville, IL; daughter, Candace Ann Pettry and husband Bill of Shelbyville, IL; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Tallman of Shelbyville, IL; two grandchildren, Greg Pettry of Shelbyville, IL and Shannon Benson and wife Kathy of Denver, CO; and two great grandchildren, Karli and Kaehler Benson of Denver, CO.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fae Tallman on December 7, 1976; son, Gregory Mark Tallman on November 30, 1975; and brother, Warren Tallman.
