Susan D. Nichols
(September 16, 1952 - March 24, 2015)

Susan Delphine “Sue” Nichols, 62, of rural Bethany, IL, died at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville, with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL. Memorials may be given to the Findlay Fire and Ambulance District.

Sue was born on September 16, 1952 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Delbert and Doris (Reel) Stremming. She graduated from Stewardson–Strasburg High School in the Class of 1970. Sue worked for banks in Effingham and Findlay, IL for over 17 years. She served as secretary-treasurer of the Findlay Fire and Ambulance District for nine years. Sue was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville, IL. She married Mike Reynolds and they had two sons, Gabriel and Cody. On March 11, 2003, Sue married Michael A. “Mike” Nichols.

She is survived by her husband Mike Nichols; sons, Gabriel M. Reynolds and wife Brittany of Shelbyville, IL, Cody M. Reynolds and wife Claire of New Baden, IL and Zachary W. Nichols and wife Sarah of Sullivan, IL; daughter, Marisa M. Nichols of Shelbyville, IL; parents, Delbert and Doris Stremming of Strasburg, IL; brothers, Jeff Stremming and wife Kathy of Teutopolis, IL and John Stremming and special friend, Sheri of Effingham, IL; sister, Christa Tieffel and husband Don of Effingham, IL; three grandchildren, Sydney Heselton, Makalyn Nichols and Caden Nichols; seven nieces and nephews; and seven great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jeremy Michael Nichols in 2008.
