Virginia R. McCoy

Virginia R. McCoy, 88, of Moweaqua, formerly of Middlesworth, IL, died at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2015 in Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Center, Moweaqua, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Casual attire is requested. Burial will follow in Cochran’s Grove (Ash Grove) Cemetery, south of Windsor, IL. Please do not feel you have to attend at the cemetery due to the heat. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Virginia was born on March 5, 1927 to John and Pearl Bruner Robinson. She graduated from Windsor High School and married Orpha Dale “O.D.” McCoy on January 25, 1945. They had one daughter, Judith Ann, and she survives. Virginia worked for Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou, Inc. in Shelbyville, IL and later for the Brown Shoe Company Factory in Sullivan, IL.
Virginia was a wonderful southern style cook and everyone loved her fried chicken, fish and fruit cobblers. She enjoyed gardening, landscaping, flowers and feeding the birds. Virginia was a devoted wife for 51 years. She would never turn away any hobo or homeless stray animal that came to the door. Virginia belonged to the First Christian Church of Shelbyville. For the last ten years, she has resided at the Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Center in Moweaqua, IL.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann Kirk of Moweaqua, IL; and a good friend and neighbor, Delbert Lenz of Middlesworth, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, O.D. McCoy on October 28, 1996.
