James B. Fairfield 
(June 16, 1937 – October 2, 2021)

James Burnell Fairfield, 84, of Stewardson, IL, went to his Heavenly home at 1:10 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church in Effingham, IL. The Rev. John Hollis will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday in the church.  Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021 in Audubon Cemetery, in New Liberty, Pope County, IL.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.

James was born on June 16, 1937 in Pope County, IL, to the late Charlie and Katie (Medley) Fairfield.

He married Phyllis M. Powell on April 16, 1960 in Melrose Park, IL, and she preceded him in death on January 12, 2014. He retired from the Henkel Corporation, located in Kankakee, IL, and was enjoying retirement. He was a Charter Member of Unity Free Will Baptist Church in Bradley, IL, and attended Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church in Effingham, IL. He enjoyed fishing, going to auctions and faithfully attending his church.

He is survived by his son, Zachary Fairfield of Bourbonnais, IL; daughters, Tammy (Gary) Ray of Cleveland, TN, Jessica (Michael) Crabtree of Shelbyville, IL, and Katie (Joshua) Dandurand of Strasburg, IL; grandchildren, Russell Fairfield of Effingham, IL, and Kimber Jackson of Strasburg, IL; great grandchildren, Tristan and Kira Fairfield of Effingham, IL, Peyton , Skylar and Kylee Dandurand of Strasburg, IL, Leah Long, Alessa Long, Hunter Long and Eli Jackson all of Strasburg, IL; one sister, Flora Harris of Metropolis, IL; one brother, Roy Dale (Peggy) Fairfield of Brookport, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Katie Fairfield; his wife, Phyllis Fairfield; four brothers, Samuel, Ralph Eugene, Charles and Robert Fairfield; and one sister, Mable Beatrice “Bea” Fandrey.
