Betty Julia Brown, 102, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2026, at Shelbyville Manor.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Shelbyville or the Shelby County Senior Center. Send condolences at www.howeandyockey.com
Betty was born on January 24, 1924, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Orval Charles and Nettie Ann (Wheat) Clawson. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1942. Betty attended beauty school and was a licensed beautician. She married Forrest Victor Brown on January 23, 1949, and they were blessed with three children, Dianne, Julia, and Larry. Betty worked at Kull Floral Co., Maton’s Floral Shop and Shelby County Farm Bureau, all in Shelbyville. Betty was a local 4-H leader for over 30 years, and enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking. She was a member of First Christian Church, Shelby County Home Extension, and the Garden Club.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Julia Myers and husband Mark of Zionsville, IN; son, Larry Brown of Shelbyville, IL; six grandchildren, Summer Irvin (Jordan) of Longmont, CO; Daric Peadro (Carrie) of Shelbyville, IL, Brandon Brown of Shelbyville, IL, Darci Groves (Chris) of Shelbyville, IL, Jenni Storm (Trevor) of Shelbyville, IL, and Ryan Myers of Zionsville, IN; 15 great grandchildren, Maya and Lea Irvin, Hudson, Brynnlee and Griffin Peadro, Hunter, Logan and McKinley Groves, Alivia, Byren, Easton and Emery Storm, and Charlie, Dallas and Phoenix Myers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor on December 19, 2008; daughter, Dianne Peadro (Robert); brothers, Don Clawson (Pauline), Burl Clawson (Dorothy), and Herbert Clawson; and sisters, Velma Brugger (Bert), Dorothy Elliott (Thomas) and Wintress Clawson.
