Charles Elmer “Charlie” Crouch, 81, of Lakewood, IL formerly of Herrick, IL, passed away at 4:03 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Shelbyville Manor.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in the Cowden First Christian Church, with Pastor Barry West officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – noon Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Herrick, IL. Memorials may be given to Workshop of Wishes ( https://www.workshopofwishes.org/ ) or Shelbyville Manor. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
Charlie was born on October 17, 1944, in Herrick, IL, the son of Charles “Russell” and Ethel Pearl (Burrus) Crouch. He attended Herrick High School. Charles married Sandra S. Lorton on January 14, 1961. Charlie retired after 34 years of employment with Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company, where he was a technician, installer, and repairman. In his retirement, he worked as a contractor for St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham, installing phone and computer wiring. Charles served as Supervisor and Road Commissioner of Bowling Green Township. He also volunteered with the Herrick Fire Department and was a member and former president of the Herrick Lions Club. Charlie enjoyed raising livestock, gardening, and tinkering in the garage.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Rick Crouch (Kim) of Cowden, IL, Rodney Crouch (Karen) of Highland, IL, Lesa Nohren (Wayne) of Lakewood, IL, and Cody Crouch of Shelbyville, IL; four grandchildren, Jami Stone (Josh) of Effingham, IL, Amber Atchley of Highland, IL, Justin Crouch (Yoshimi) of Zushi City, Japan; and Joey Crouch (Sonja) of Brecksville, OH; and seven great grandchildren, Haley Atchley, Shelby Stone, Justin Crouch, Chloe Atchley, Kelcy Stone, Elliot Crouch, and Audrey Crouch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Crouch; and maternal grandparents, Elmer and Myrl Burrus.
