Charlotte Ann Wafford, 87, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 6:53 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Shelbyville Manor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Friday, December 19, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville, IL, with Father Pawel Augustyniak as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - noon Friday in the church. A private family burial will take place later in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Saving Orphaned Animals. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
Charlotte was born on March 3, 1938, in Pana, IL, the daughter of Donald and Anna (Sandrock) Gordon. She attended Pana High School. Charlotte married John R. Wafford on April 13, 1956, in Taylorville, IL. She worked in the office at Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company in Shelbyville for many years. In her retirement, Charlotte was a waitress at the Morgan House in Shelbyville. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing golf, cooking and gardening. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. Charlotte was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shelbyville, where she was a Dominican Associate.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Carrie Jones of Shelbyville, IL, Donna Cavin of Statham, GA, and Gina Banning (Darrell) of Shelbyville, IL; sisters, Cynthia Davis of Cookeville, TN, and Patricia Krausel of St. Louis, MO; brothers, Tony Gordon (Beata) of Wildwood, MO, and Jerry Gordon (Adriane) of Fenton, MO; six grandchildren, Beau Hodson (Tiffany), Cory Jones (Nichole), Meagan Ibarra (Doni), Cassie Mahnke (Colton), Jaide Helton (Cortland), Paige Tull (Jared); and 14 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Sophia and Colin Hodson, Lily, Brynn and Graham Jones, Nikolas and Denzel Ibarra, Rowan Smith and Addi Mahnke, Bella and Ivey Helton, and Parker and Greyson Tull.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John on October 24, 2022; brother, Don Gordon; brothers-in-law, Ray Davis and Vic Krausel; and nephews, Rick Gordon, Raymond Davis, and Paul Krausel.
