Daniel L. "Danny" Helton

Daniel Lee “Danny” Helton, 57, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 6:34 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Father Pawel Augustyniak officiating. Visitation will be from 3:30-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home. A private burial will take place later in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Shelbyville High School for the Football Program.

Danny was born on October 20, 1968, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Ronald Lee and Lois Aileen (McKittrick) Helton. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1987. Danny began working at FS in Shelbyville, IL and later worked for Lithia Springs Marina and the Shelby County Housing Authority. He also owned and operated Helton Construction in Shelbyville. Danny loved fishing, hunting, traveling and taking long car rides. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and supporting them in their activities and sporting events.

Danny is survived by his three children, Cortland Helton and wife Jaide, Alexis Welton and husband Scott, and Cade Helton and wife Emmalee all of Shelbyville, IL; fiancée, Lori Rothrock and her son Brett both of Shelbyville; four grandchildren, Marley Welton, Cooper Welton, Bella Helton and Ivey Helton; mother, Lois Helton of Shelbyville; brother, Jesse Helton and wife Gwyn of Shelbyville; sister, Leslie Fathauer of Shelbyville; nieces and nephews, Justin Fathauer and wife Monica, Chelsea Wildman and husband Rodney, Zachary Helton, Aurora Poulos and husband Dr. Andrew, Bailee Shasteen and husband Cody, Brandy Mieldezis and husband Josh, Jordan Smith and wife Ryleigh, and Ricci Smith; and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Helton; brother-in-law, David Fathauer; paternal grandparents, Jesse Helton and June Helton Dort (John); and maternal grandparents, Courtney McKittrick and Wintress McKittrick McConnell (Lawrence).
