Daniel Mearle “Danny” Robbins, 71, of Mattoon, IL, passed away Monday morning, December 2, 2024, in his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565, with Rev. John Mueth officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Broadway Christian Church, Mattoon, IL.
Danny was born on October 1, 1953, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, the son of Velmar Mearle “V.M.” and Joyce A. (Foltz) Robbins. He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in the Class of 1971. Dan went to work as a tire builder at Firestone in Decatur, IL and worked there for 16 years before attending Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. He graduated with a master’s degree in economics in 1998. After graduation, Dan suffered from health issues that led to him being disabled. Dan married Deborah Shasteen on February 18, 1984. They shared over 40 years of marriage and made many happy memories. Dan was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed playing games, watching sports, and listening to music. He was a trivia buff and a math wiz. Dan was proud of earning his master’s degree and also a very proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Dan’s family finds peace in knowing that he is free of his health issues and is at home with the Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Robbins of Mattoon, IL; son, Bryan Robbins (Brooke) of Toledo, IL; daughters, Scarlet Conley (Troy) of Charleston, IL and Dusty Sanborn (Tommy) of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Madison Bell (Derek), Masyn Lawrence (Austin), Sydney Wilson (Jake), Kade Conley, Makenzy Stephens (Adam), Delaney Arthur, Zane Sanborn, Ashlee Robbins and Cameron Robbins; and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Dawn Mills (Steve) of Queen Creek, AZ and Marty Robbins (Mary) of Decatur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Kenny Robbins.
