David A. Glick

David Ansel "Dave" Glick, age 68, passed away on January 22, 2026, in Springfield, Illinois. Born on June 28, 1957, in Pana, Illinois, David lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep faith, and a profound love for all living beings.

He was the son of Victor Halstead Glick and Sarah Mae Godfrey Glick, both of whom preceded him in death. David was also predeceased by his sister Janis Mary Glick Wood; his brother-in- law Robert L. "Bob" Wood; his niece Valerie Wood Willmore; and his great-nephew Blake Robert Wood.

David is lovingly remembered by his sisters Charlotte Mae (Sherman) Glick Wallace and Ellen Ora (Harry) Glick Bender. He also leaves behind a devoted extended family including nieces Katrina (Kent) Griffith, Denise (Scott) Bagley, and Deanna (Scott) Jones; nephews Brian (Ramona) Wood and Danny (Donna) Wallace; twelve great-nieces and nephews; and ten great-great-nieces and nephews.

Those who knew David were touched by his unwavering loyalty, patience, and compassion. He lived up to the meaning of his name—“Beloved”—through acts of kindness and a gentle spirit that resonated with everyone he encountered. His deep belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ guided him throughout his life, shaping his values and interactions with others. David’s epitaph reflects the foundation of his faith: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” This scripture from the Gospel of John encapsulates the spiritual conviction that anchored his journey.

May David’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting testament to a life lived with grace and devotion.

A Remembrance Celebration will be held when new life breaks forth in the spring. David will be buried privately on Williamsburg Hill at Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the food pantry of your choice and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
