David Scott Lee

David Scott Lee, age 60, of Arlington, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital, surrounded by his family.

David was born on August 23, 1965, in Shelbyville, Illinois, to Gerald “Tiz” Lee and Phyllis (Mears) Lee. He married Kara Flick on June 3, 1995, in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

A graduate of Findlay High School in Findlay, Illinois, Class of 1983, David served four years in the United States Air Force, followed by three years in the Air National Guard’s 183rd Fighter Wing in Springfield, Illinois. He earned a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois.

Throughout his career, David held roles at General Electric in Chicago, Delta Airlines in Atlanta, Georgia, and for the past twenty years, he was employed at FedEx World Hub in Memphis, Tennessee.

David was passionate about aerospace, enjoying activities such as building model rockets and aircraft. He was a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan and was fortunate to witness the Cubs’ victory in the 2016 World Series. He also followed AAA baseball with the Memphis Redbirds, a farm team of the St. Louis Cardinals. Additionally, David enjoyed college football and basketball, particularly Big Ten and SEC conferences. He was a devout Christian and a member of the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409 in Findlay, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife, Kara Lee; sons, Justin Lee of Columbus, Mississippi, and Tyler Lee of Arlington, Tennessee; mother, Phyllis Lee, of Findlay, Illinois; sister, Ann Good of Findlay, Illinois and her partner, Dale Johnson of Bethany, IL; brother, Mark (Bette) Lee of Shelbyville, Illinois; brothers-in-law, Ryan (Jackie) Flick of Mundelein, Illinois, and Paul Flick of Lady Lake, Florida; nephew, Ian Flick of Mundelein, Illinois; nieces, Kayla Lee of Greeley, Colorado and Courtney Lee of Mattoon, Illinois. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

David was preceded in death by his father, Gerald “Tiz” Lee; father-in-law, Dale Flick; mother-in-law, Ruth Flick; and brothers-in-law, Larry Good and Gary Flick.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, Illinois with Pastor Richard Hargrave officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00- noon on Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, Illinois with military rites by the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409 of Findlay, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
