David Everett Rincker, 80, of rural Strasburg, IL, passed away at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center, Mattoon, IL.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Pastor Michael Madden officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – noon Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Shelby County Farm Bureau Foundation to establish a scholarship in David’s name for Windsor or Stew-Stras FFA members.
David was born on October 9, 1945, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Everett Raymond and H. Marie (Davis) Rincker. He graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1963. He continued his education at the University of Illinois, earning his bachelor’s degree in agriculture. David served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He married Elma L. Taylor on January 28, 1971, and they were blessed with four boys, Brian, Jonathan, Kevin, and Keith. David was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer in the Strasburg area and worked as groundskeeping supervisor at Angus Links Golf Course, near Windsor, IL. He was a member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau and American Angus Association, and a former member of Shelbyville Country Club. He had a passion for golf or “Pasture Pool”, gardening, and watching University of Illinois Football and Basketball. David was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville.
David is survived by his wife, Elma; sons, Brian Rincker and wife Jamie of Strasburg, IL, Jonathan Rincker and wife Julia of Union, KY, Kevin Rincker and wife Ashley of Strasburg, IL, and Keith Rincker and Jess Edwards of Cerro Gordo, IL; brother, Dennis Rincker of Hamlet, NC; sister, Phyllis Norton and husband Bill of Tolono, IL; seven grandchildren, Dyllan and wife Katie, Hunter, Jaycee, Reagan, Aubrey, Milo, and Emalyn; and four great grandchildren, Abagail, Carter, David, and Elise.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
