Donald Lee Eversole, 90, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 5:28 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Derrick Ritchie officiating and special music by step-grandson, Michael Marshall. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Tower Hill Christian Church. Donald was born on June 20, 1935, in Pickaway Twp., Shelby County, IL, the son of James Harold and Laura Mae (Pierce) Eversole. He attended Assumption High School and was a member of the Class of 1953. Donald married Beverly Ann Scribner and they were blessed with four children, Donna, Michael, David and Rodney. He began working for Field and Shorb in Decatur, IL. Donald later worked for Trulocks in Assumption, Phoenix Pipe and Supply, Phoenix, AZ, and then as an over-the-road truck driver for Schneider Trucking. As a young man, he raised Nutria and later raised and sold dogs from a kennel that he designed and built. Donald married Sandra L. “Sandy” Milby on June 3, 2021. Donald and Sandy enjoyed attending country music shows and were members of the Tower Hill Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughter, Donna Stephenson of Decatur, IL; sons, Michael Eversole (Cindy) of Decatur, IL and Rodney Eversole (Lora) of Dyersburg, TN; daughter-in-law, Anita Eversole of Casey, SC; step-children, Michael Milby (Melaney) of Wauchula, FL, Teri Boedecker (Bill) of Little River, SC and Mark Milby (Stephanie) of Mulkeytown, IL; brother, Larry Eversole (Sharon) of Assumption, IL; sister-in-law, Margery Eversole of Shelbyville, IL: grandchildren, Tonya Younce (Robert) of Stambaugh, KY, Jared Stephenson (Teran) of Mt. Zion, IL, Leslie Lenhardt (Matthew) of Lexington, SC, Jasmine Hawks (Justin) of Dyer, TN, Jason Ables of Dyer, TN and Joe Ables of Arkansas; many step-grandchildren including, Nikki, Christina, Danielle, Megan, Madison, Katie, Jack, Paris, Ember, Emma and Emerson; great grandchildren, Sadie (Jarrett), Sophie, Cruze, Wrynn, Jax, Sawyer, Gabrielle, Logan, Matthew, Trinity, Isabella, Jaxon, Zayn, Gabriella, Ryker, Helen, Avery and Jett; many great step-grandchildren including, Gracelynn, Emmy, Lilly, Levi, Lindsey, Hope, Atlas and Scottie; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Allen Eversole; son-in-law, Michael Stephenson; grandson, Zackery Eversole; brother, Dwayne Eversole; and sister, Marilyn Weakly (Don).
