Duane G. Uphoff

Duane Gordon Uphoff, 84, of Findlay, IL, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Shelbyville Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025, in the First Christian Church, 202 W. Division St., Findlay, IL 62534, with Nathan Jesse officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2025, in the First Christian Church in Findlay, IL. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL with military rites by the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post 409 of Findlay, IL. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be given to Shelby Extension Foundation (Memo: Uphoff Family Memorial). Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Duane was born on November 3, 1940, in Westfield, IL, the son of Gilbert Franklin “Gib” and Lois Aileen (Gordon) Uphoff. He graduated from Findlay High School in the Class of 1958 and served in the United States Army Reserves for six years. Duane married Marjorie Louise Cutler on November 12, 1960, in the Moweaqua Christian Church, and they were blessed with four children, Douglas, Timothy, Angela, and Craig. He was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer in the Findlay area. Duane served as President and Secretary of both the Shelby County Farm Bureau and the Findlay School Board, was a 4-H leader for the Findlay Feeders, and served on the Shelby County 4-H Fair Board. Duane received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1971 and the Findlay High School Distinguished Alumni Award. He was an Elder at the former Findlay Church of Christ and a member of the Moweaqua Christian Church. Duane also served on the Shelby Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.

Duane is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, Douglas Uphoff and wife Beulah of Shelbyville, IL, Timothy Uphoff and wife Pam of Findlay, IL, Angela Uphoff of Assumption, IL, and Craig Uphoff and wife Amy of Macon, IL; brother, Stanley Uphoff and wife Patricia of Shelbyville, IL; sister-in-law, Judy Uphoff of Lovington, IL; brother-in-law, Larry Cutler (Lynette) of Moweaqua, IL: nine grandchildren, Whitney Gordon (Derrick), Savannah Arthur (Rory), Elliott Uphoff (Hailey), Brogan Tipton (Brian), Sydney Fandrich (Max), Isaac Uphoff (Caitlin), Taylor Cook (Brock), Halle Shearer (fiancé, Clint Henington), and Spencer Uphoff (Gracie Sproles); bonus grandson, Dustyn Fatheree (Kailey); thirteen great grandchildren, Rory Odu, Charlotte Gordon, Stella Arthur, Laken Arthur, Madeline Uphoff, Margot Uphoff, Finley Tipton, Emmaline Tipton, Waylon Fandrich, Wyla Fandrich, Oliver Uphoff, Ansley Cook, and Quinn Cook; bonus great grandson, Lincoln Fatheree; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Connie Yantis; and brother, Roger Uphoff.
