Maurice Dwayne Eversole , 97, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021 in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health C are Center, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Don Jefferies and Rev. Derrick Ritchie officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard.  Memorials may be given to the Shelby County Senior Center.

Mr. Eversole was born on June 22, 1924 in Assumption, IL, the son of James Harold and Laura Mae Pierce Eversole.  He graduated from Westervelt High School in the Class of 1942.  Dwayne then served in the Army Air Corps during WW II.  When he returned from the service, he worked as an airplane mechanic at the Decatur Airport.  He later worked on teletype machines for the Signal Depot in Decatur.  In 1954, Dwayne began dairy farming in the Tower Hill area and retired in 1997.  He married Margery Wilson on June 4, 1950.  Dwayne was a former member of the Tower Hill School Board.  He enjoyed delivering peace meals for the Shelby Co. Senior Center, mowing yards, playing cards, visiting with family, tractor pulls, and taking family trips.  He was a member of the First Assembly of God and Shelby County Farm Bureau, both in Shelbyville and a former member of the Robinson Creek Methodist Church.  He loved country music, especially steel guitar.  Dwayne also cherished his trip on the Honor Flight with his brother, Larry.

He is survived by his wife, Margery; sons, William Eversole (Valorie) of Shelbyville, IL, Robert Eversole (Carolyn) of Tower Hill, IL and Bradley Eversole (Devona Jo) of Tower Hill, IL; daughter, Cheryl Wheeler (Wes) of Shelbyville, IL: brothers, Donald Eversole (Sandy) of Shelbyville, IL and Larry Eversole (Sharon) of Assumption, IL: 13 grandchildren, Aaron Eversole (Jenny), Rebecca McClain, Amanda Hill (James), Rachel Eversole-Jones (Daniel), Matthew Eversole (Krista), Kelsey Fox (Steve), Sadie Stork (Cody), Alexia Houston (Kyle), Nathan Eversole (Sue), Brandon Eversole, Casey Finks (Taylor), Cody Wheeler, and Caylee Jefson (Lyle); and 18 great grandchildren, Will McClain, Jack McClain, Hayden Eversole, Hannah Eversole, Heath Eversole, Caleb Hill,. Brooklyn Jones, Asher Jones, Harper Eversole, Henry Eversole, Eloise Eversole, Tristan Fox, Remy Fox, Landon Stork, Nash Stork, Sophia Eversole, Claire Eversole, and Tatum Finks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn Weakly (Donald); and brother-in-law, Loren Wilson.
