Euna L. Wheat

Euna Lee Wheat, 83, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 4:08 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Linda Trent officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Mode, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Public Library Summer Reading Program.

Euna was born on March 24, 1943, in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Leonard “Slim” and Alice (Lowe) Snyder. She graduated from Herrick High School and continued her education at Sparks Business College in Shelbyville. She married Leroy D. Wheat on September 22, 1963, and they had two sons, Terry and Troy. Euna worked as an assistant manager at Clark Gas Station and later in the kitchen at Casey’s, both in Shelbyville. She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Euna was an avid reader, collected all things owl, and treasured time spent with family.

Euna is survived by her sons, Terry Wheat and wife Nancy of Shelbyville, IL, and Troy Wheat and wife Leeza of Terre Haute, IN; five grandchildren, Travis Wheat (Alyssa), Adrienne Wheat, Tyler Wheat, Andrew Wheat and Zachariah Wheat; and four great grandchildren, Delaney, Murphy, Sophie, and Sebastian.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Leroy, on December 18, 2014.
