Floyd D. Storm , 88, of Strasburg, IL, was welcomed into God’s Heavenly Kingdom at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at St. Louis University Hospital, in St. Louis, MO.
Floyd was born on August 11, 1936, at his home in Big Spring Township, Strasburg, IL, the son of Lester and Olive (Culver) Storm. He graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in 1954. He attended Eastern Illinois University where he played basketball. Floyd married his high school sweetheart, Christine Kull on August 26, 1956. He served in the Illinois Army National Guard. Floyd was an active community member, serving on the Shelby County Board for 32 years, the Strasburg Lions Club, and the local Drainage District Board. During his lifelong career of grain and livestock farming, he sold McNess Feed, was a basketball referee, and drove a school bus for the Stewardson-Strasburg School District. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg, IL. Floyd did not know a stranger and always had a smile. He had a great listening ear and could offer the best advice. Many considered him a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Christine Storm of Strasburg, IL; sons, Darin Storm and wife Colleen and Ryan Storm and wife Sonia, both of Strasburg, IL; grandchildren Shelby Beltz and husband Brandon of Windsor, Il, and Dalton Storm of Strasburg, IL; great grandchildren, Barrett, Breck, and Stormi Beltz all of Windsor, IL; and nieces, Michelle Storm and Adrienne Storm of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Forest Storm.
The family thanks the local first responders, AirMedCare and all the medical professionals at St. Louis University Hospital for the exceptional care they gave Floyd.
A celebration of Floyd’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to Worship Anew, Ft. Wayne, IN or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
