Gaylord G. Stremming

Gaylord Gilbert Stremming, 88, of Strasburg, IL, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Sunday, October 18, 2026, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2026, in St. Paul Cemetery, Strasburg, IL, with Rev. Kene Whybrew officiating. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.

Gaylord was born on May 14, 1938, in Strasburg, IL, the son of Gilbert Henry Fred and Alma Lucille (Huffmaster) Stremming. He graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1956. Following graduation, Gaylord served in the United States Army Reserves. He married Dixie Lee Barnick on October 4, 1964, and they had two children, Randy and Sandy. Gaylord worked in construction as a home builder and licensed electrician for many years. He enjoyed farming, tractor drives, and going to farm sales. Gaylord was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Prairie Heritage Tractor Club both in Strasburg, IL.

Gaylord is survived by his wife, Dixie; son, Randy Stremming of Strasburg, IL; daughter, Sandy Zumbahlen and husband Alan of Louisville, IL; sister-in-law, Cathy Stremming of Strasburg, IL; and brother-in-law, Wayne Reel of Mattoon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth Stremming (Wilma), Keith Stremming (Carolyn), Richard “Dick” Stremming; infant twin brothers, Kermit and Kerwin Stremming; and sisters Mary Biehler (LeRoy) and Laveta Reel.
