Jack L. Harvey, 76, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2026, at Shelbyville Manor.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Masonic Rites by Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, following the visitation. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home with flag presentation by the Shelby County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Angel of Love in Shelbyville.
Jack was born on August 7, 1949, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of George Andrew and Marjorie Louise (Jones) Harvey. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1967. Jack served in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War from 1967 – 1971 and proudly served on the USCG CHASE. Jack married Jenifer Ann Stewardson on November 25, 1972, and they were blessed with three children, Andrew, Allison, and Amanda. He worked as a foreman at Caterpillar in Decatur until his retirement. Jack was a member of the Jaycees, Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81, VFW Post #4829, and Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 all in Shelbyville. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, fireworks, and working with stained glass. Jack was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and found joy in dressing up as “Santa Jack” at Christmas time.
Jack is survived by his wife, Jenifer; son, Andrew Thomas Harvey and fiancée Amy Bledsaw of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Allison Lynn Braden and husband Mike of Effingham, IL, and Amanda Nicole Foley and husband Sam of Affton, MO; sisters, Linda Taniges (Carl) of Beaufort, SC, and Tina Lemna (Tim) of Chatham, MA; four grandchildren, Sydney Reese Harvey, Russell Thomas Foley, Ryan Harvey Foley, and Tula Mae Braden.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
