Jason Eugene Baird, 54, of Bloomington, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Arcadia Care, Bloomington, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Linda Trent officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association, Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, or Shelbyville First United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
Jason was born on August 24, 1972, in Effingham, IL, the son of Randy L. and Marcella J. “Marcy” (Pickett) Baird. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the class of 1992. During high school, Jason worked at Johnston’s IGA and following graduation he worked as a cook at Eagle Creek Resort. Jason was later employed at Hydro-Gear in Sullivan, IL for over ten years. Jason loved watching baseball and football and going for walks. He was a member of Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Shelbyville.
Jason is survived by his parents, Randy and Marcy Baird of Shelbyville, IL; sisters, Sara Claghorn (Raymond) of Mt. Zion, IL and Brandie Jordan; grandmother, Roma Baird of Glen Carbon, IL; niece and nephews, Gavin Williams (Lillian), David Claghorn, Sonja Claghorn, Baily Jordan, and Owen Jordan; great niece, Lilliana Williams; aunts and uncles, Gayla Stirewalt (Todd), Doug Tull, Ruby Beck (Jim), Donna Sullivan (Dean) and Sarah McCool (Allen). Marla Vincent (Curt), Chris Tull, and Pam Tull; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Baird; paternal grandmother, Venedea Wallace (Vaughn); maternal grandfather, James Franklin Pickett; maternal grandmother, Ruby Logston Pickett; niece, Hannah Claghorn; aunts and uncles, Terry Baird, Sonja Butler (Ray), Sam Tull, Kenny Tull, Wilma Danford, Franklin ”Bud” Pickett (Margaret), James Pickett (Norma), Fayrene Woods (Wayne), Geroge Pickett (Joyce), William Pickett and David Pickett; cousin, Susan Baird; and his beloved chocolate lab, Taz.
