Jeffry L. “Jeff” Price
, 74, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 11:42 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2024, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Tina Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday April 17, 2024, in the funeral home. The burial will be in Price Cemetery, Oconee, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Shelby County Honor Guard.
Jeff was born on January 13, 1950, in Pana, IL, the son of Douglas J. and Rose Marie (Holland) Price. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1968. Jeff was a veteran of the Vietnam Era serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Diane Pinkston on May 4, 1969. When Jeff returned from the service, he began working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville. He then became a lineman for Shelby Electric Cooperative, where he worked for 36 years. Jeff was a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville and the Shelby County Honor Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coon hunting, mushroom hunting, and storytelling.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; sons, Jeff Price (Lori) and Shane Price (Brandi) both of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Jamie Williams and Rachel Price both of Shelbyville, IL; mother and step-father, Rose Marie Allsop (Lee); brother, Brian Price of Shelbyville, IL; sisters, Toni Marie Helton (Richard) of Shelbyville, IL and Kathy Jo Matlock (Mark) of Canyon Lake, TX; brother-in-law, Phillip Alward of Decatur, IL; 11 grandchildren, Rachel Price, Harley Williams, Hunter Williams, Savana Williams, Sophia Price, Oliver Backs, Paisley Fitzgerald, Rylee Price, Josie Agney, Clayson Price, and Lily Price; and five great grandchildren, Serenity and Zyden Feneley, Rosslyn and Amiya Smith, and Elikai Williams.
He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas J. Price; sister, Vicki Alward; and one son in infancy, David Richard Price.
