John was born on August 14, 1950, in Shelbyville, IL, the son of John William and Ramona June (Schlechte) Radloff. He graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1968 and earned an associate degree from Lake Land College. John began working as a civil engineer for the Shelby County Highway Department and later retired from Pro-Ag in Windsor, IL, as a soil tester. He married Judy Welch on October 29, 1998. John and Judy owned and operated Buster’s Gas Station and Convenience Store in Windsor, IL for many years. In his younger days, John enjoyed playing fastpitch softball and was a skilled left-handed leadoff hitter and outfielder. His softball career spanned from 1968 through 1982 and included playing for the Sullivan Chiefs, Decatur Perfect Window Cleaners, Decatur ADM, Tate’s Farm Equipment and the St. Louis Browns in the Professional World Softball League. John played on teams that won two state championships and one national championship. He was inducted into the Amateur Softball Association’s Hall of Fame in 2013 and loved to reminisce in vivid detail about his playing days. John was a simple man who found fulfillment in gardening, building campfires, watching the weather, rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, and spending time with his beloved dog, Gracie.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; three children, Mindi Jenkins of Robinson, IL, Ashley Solano of Destin, FL, and Devin Radloff of Shelbyville, IL; eight grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great grandson.
