Joseph E. Hicks

Joseph E. Hicks, 60, of Pana, IL, passed away Friday evening, October 11, 2024, as the result of an automobile accident near Pana, IL.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2024 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. A flag presentation will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday, following the visitation.

Joe was born on May 21, 1964, in Eugene, Oregon, the son of John Wesley and Barbara Lucille (Ward) Hicks. Following high school, Joe served in the Oregon Army National Guard. He worked for many years as a self-employed boat mechanic. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his dog, Lucy. 

He is survived by his children, Amy Kahley (Zachary) of Shelbyville, IL, Joshua Hicks of Pana, IL, Samantha Collins (Adam) of Marseilles, IL, Christina Woestman of Shelbyville, IL, and Robert Woestman of Sandwich, IL; former wife and best friend, Nancy Hicks of Pana, IL; one brother; one sister; and two grandchildren, Desmond Kahley and Ryder Collins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
