Joshua Ryan “Josh” McKittrick, 39, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 5:56 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026, in Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be made to Alana McKittrick for an education fund for Alana and Owen. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL.
Josh was born on May 6, 1987, in Decatur, IL, the son of Stuart and Brenda (Bunch) McKittrick. Josh was an avid fisherman. He took every opportunity to share the sport with his daughter. He also enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors. Josh loved welding and took genuine pride in his work. He believed in building things to last, and in the final chapter of his life, he applied that same dedication to rebuilding the relationships that mattered the most. He treasured every moment he spent with his children and was committed to being a father they deserved.
He is survived by his daughter, Alana McKittrick (Ian) of Findlay, IL; son, Owen McKittrick of Findlay, IL: mother of his children, Erica Kirksey of Findlay, IL; father, Stuart McKittrick of Decatur, IL: sisters, Ashley McKittrick of Annapolis, MD and Jessica Sutherland Handel of Elizabeth, IL; aunts, Margaret Ridgley (Steve) of Tombstone, AZ, Belinda Baker of Plant City, FL and Holly Allen (Kurt) of Plant City, FL, Jill Bauer (Dale, Jr.) of Maryville, IL; and Jody Fleshner (Tom) of Shelbyville, IL; uncles, Brad Bunch (Kim) of Herrick, IL and Troy McKittrick of Shelbyville, IL; step-father, A.Y. Logue of Tampa, FL; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Logue; sisters, Miranda Sutherland and Danielle Young; former step-father and friend, Danny Cutler; uncle, Brent Bunch; maternal grandparents, Wayne Bunch, Margaret Rose Bunch and Shirley Bunch; paternal grandparents, Harold “Short” McKittrick and Maurine McKittrick; and cousin, Ashley Bunch.
