M. June Banning , 100, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023 in Glenwood Cemetery (Section B), Shelbyville, IL.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.  Memorials may be given to Saving Orphaned Animals in Shelbyville, IL.

June was born on June 18, 1923 in Westervelt, IL, the daughter of Charles and Cordelia Godwin King.  She attended country schools near Henton and Assumption and earned her GED at the age of 65. June worked for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company, General Electric, and was an assembly worker for Borg-Warner in Decatur, IL at the time of her retirement.  She married Thomas G. Banning on August 15, 1943.  He died on May 27, 2006.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay Henne of Shelbyville, IL: two grandsons, Greg Getz (Laurie) of Orlando, FL and Brad Getz (Jaclyn) of Shelbyville, IL; nine great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and her beloved little dog, Emmy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five sisters, Grace McGuar, Ethel Wallace, Nellie Heinz, Fern Puyear and S. Elizabeth Younker; two brothers, Carl King and Daniel King; and step-father Charles Appelt.
