Laura A. Uphoff

Laura Anne Uphoff, 55, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 1:55 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital, Shelbyville, IL.

There will be a Celebration of Laura’s Life at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL, with Pastor Don Jefferies officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First Assembly of God Church in Shelbyville or the Salvation Army.

Laura was born on March 18, 1970, in Charleston, IL, the daughter of Charles Jesse and Sheryl Lynne (Starwalt) Hood. She graduated from Tower Hill High School in the Class of 1988 and was the FFA State Treasurer. Laura continued her education at Lake Land College and earned an associate’s degree in nursing. Laura lived in Texas for many years and moved back to the Shelbyville area in 2008. She was a manager for Pizza Hut in Shelbyville, a cook at Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care and most recently owned and operated a food truck. Laura was a member of the First Assembly of God in Shelbyville, where she helped with Vacation Bible School and any activity she could be a part of. Later in life, she enjoyed gardening, reading, and sending cards to family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Zachary A. Uphoff (Hannah Jennings) of Shelbyville, IL, and Adam Uphoff (Paulina Whalen) of Memphis, TN; brothers, Jesse Hood of Lakewood, IL, and Richard Hood (Brenda Freeman) of Shelbyville, IL; and one grandson, Harrison David Uphoff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Sheryl, and her grandparents.
