Leona “Cheryl” Williams
, 73, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 3:27 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2023 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Nathan Woolery officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Gary Sinise Foundation for Veterans.
Cheryl was born on August 27, 1949 in Pana, IL, the daughter of Charles Edward and Pauline Leon (Reynolds) Williams. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1967. Cheryl worked at Crest Container Company and then Continental Bondware in the Lid Department for many years. She later was a caregiver at Reservoir Manor in Shelbyville, working for Healthcare Management. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville, where she was baptized on July 12, 2001. Cheryl enjoyed playing bingo, and watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Basketball. More than anything, Cheryl cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Cheryl is survived by her sons, Tyson Williams and wife Holly of Shelbyville, IL, and Greg Williams of Findlay, IL; brothers, Michael Williams of Cowden, IL, Chuck Williams (Diane) of Shelbyville, IL, and Stan Williams (Virginia) of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Gail Stoldt (Jim) of Belleville, IL and Vanessa Baginski (Richard) of Findlay, IL; four grandchildren, Whitley Pierce (Travis), Sandra Hennings (Shawn), Danielle Lochbaum, and Elizabeth Lochbaum (Grady); seven great grandchildren, Adalyn Williams, Hadley Hennings, Lynnlee Pierce, Mason Hennings, Lainey Jo Hennings, Timmus Pierce, and Oliver Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pauline Williams; brother, John Paul; sister-in-law, Judy Williams; and nephew, Steve Williams.
