Leta Flo Bruckner, 94, of Shelbyville, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her home on December 5, 2025.
She was born November 8, 1931, in Lakewood, Illinois, to the late Nita and Orrie (Ruff) Wade. Leta lived a life marked by resilience, self-reliance, and deep pride in her family. She worked on the family farm, served as a telephone operator, and later worked alongside her second husband at Bruckner and Associates in the Chicagoland area.
Leta was a devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she served as treasurer. She was an avid reader and enjoyed Wednesday crochet club, where she shared her talent and fellowship with dear friends. Her most cherished moments were time with her children and extended family.
Leta married Everett Clark Fox in 1949. Together they raised their five children in Shelbyville before she later married Clarence “CAB” Bruckner and relocated to the Chicagoland area. After Clarence's passing in 1992, she returned home to Shelbyville for the last 33 years of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence August Bruckner; her daughter-in-law Dana Fox; her grandsons, Douglas and Daniel Fox, Jeffrey Orin, Jordan Fox, and Daniel Bruns; and her six siblings, Ruby, Geneva, Jean, John, Velma, and Don.
She is survived by her five children: Jennifer (John) Orin, Stephen (Toni) Fox, Douglas (Jessica) Fox, Stuart (Janie) Fox, and Jamie (Brett) Hankins; 17 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Logsdon officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – noon on Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Food Pantry at the First United Methodist Church both in Shelbyville.
