Linda Lea Olander , 72, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 1:35 p.m. Saturday April 22, 2023.

A visitation service will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Monday May 1, 2023 at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Fortkamp officiating. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials donations will be given to the St. John’s School of Nursing Scholarship Fund, Springfield, IL https://giving.hshs.org/sjs/Donate .

Linda was born on March 22, 1951 in Tucson, AZ, the daughter of Marvin Winford and Malinda Fern (Skidmore) Young. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1969.  She went on to earn her Associates Degree from Springfield College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield, IL. Linda worked as a nurse in Springfield for over 35 years. She began her nursing career at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield where she specialized in oncology and hospice.  She later worked as a nurse at St. John’s Hospital and specialized in Psychiatrics.  Following her retirement from St. John’s, Linda worked part time at the Illinois Presbyterian Home in Springfield, IL.  She enjoyed shopping, hunting treasures at garage sales, and watching the Chicago Cubs. Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren and family, especially celebrating the holidays.

Linda is survived by her daughters, Tamara Lea White (Douglas Newman) of Springfield, IL, and Erin Ann Olander (Josh Spain) of Bloomington, IL; son, Timothy Richard Olander (Anjie) of Hilton Head Island, SC; brother, David W. Young (Annette) of Shelbyville, IL; four grandchildren, Samantha Lea White, Luke Michael White, Jackson Richard Olander, and Sophie-Grace Olander.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Barbara Ann Cripe and Sharon Kay Young.
