Lisa J. Pryer

Lisa Jo Pryer, 65, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 6:35 pm Friday, July 3, 2026, at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, in Dallas, TX.

Lisa was born on April 17, 1961, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of William and Shirley (Helm) Cummins. She earned an associate’s degree in accounting from Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL. Lisa married Christopher Ellis Pryer on August 8, 1981. Chris and Lisa enjoyed taking trips on their Indian Motorcycles. Lisa previously worked in Dr. Agapito’s office in Shelbyville, and most recently worked in the billing department at Cancer Care Specialists in Decatur, IL. Lisa had a soft heart, loved animals and enjoyed volunteering at the Herrick Wildlife Rescue.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Chris; daughter, Trista Pryer and fiancé James Gill of Shelbyville, IL; step-son, Tom Matheny of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Doug Cummins (Debra) of Arlington, TX; sister-in-law, Linda Cummins of Decatur, IL; three grandchildren, Jazmon Beck, Gavin Procell, and Jayden Procell; four step-grandchildren, Madisyn, Claire, Izabella and Hunter Matheny; and two great grandchildren, Lorelei and Ophelia Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, David Cummins.

Lisa’s life will be celebrated by her family at a later date. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family. Memorials may be given to Saving Orphaned Animals Shelby County and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
