Noel Byrl Nippe, 95, of Strasburg, IL, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Heartland Senior Living, Neoga, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL, with Rev. Kene Whybrew officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, in the church. Burial with military rites will be in Richland Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to Strasburg American Legion Post #289. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.
Noel was born on December 26, 1930, in Strasburg, IL, the son of Joseph and Lora (Figge) Nippe. He attended Elm Grove Grade School and graduated as valedictorian of Strasburg High School Class of 1949. In 1952, Noel entered the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He married Gladys M. Agney on September 13, 1964. Noel began working on the railroad and hauling milk for Brandt’s canned milk route. He was a lifelong farmer and helped part-time at Moomaw Elevator in Stewardson. Noel worked as a welder at Norge, Fedders, and Caterpillar, retiring from CAT in 1997 after 23 years. Noel enjoyed antique tractor shows, tractor pulls, storytelling and his great grandchildren.
Noel is survived by his daughters, Shirley Herrmann of Strasburg, IL, Mary Tabbert of Strasburg, IL, and Susan Nippe of Stewardson, IL; five grandchildren, Mariah Williams (Jesse), Will Tabbert (Lexi), Clay Tabbert, Tyler Herrman, and Kirby Herrmann (James Voertman); and two great grandchildren, Oaklyn and Truett Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys on June 25, 2018; brothers, Curtis Nippe (Ruth) and Charlie Nippe (Millie); and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ed and Minnie Agney.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Senior Living and Transitions Hospice for the care they provided to Noel.
