Regina Alma McManaway, 94, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Cowden and Pana, passed away at 9:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2026, at Shelbyville Manor.
Regina was born on August 6, 1931, in Wurzburg, Germany, the daughter of Josef and Lizzie Metzger. She grew up in Germany alongside her five siblings. Regina met her future husband while he was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Air Force. She married Robert Glenn “Bob” “Schatz” McManaway, on March 27, 1954, at the Giebelstadt Air Force Base in Germany. Following Bob’s military service, they moved back to Cowden, IL, and were members of the Cowden Free Methodist Church. They later moved to Chicago where Regina worked as the head cook at Marshalls. Following their retirements, Regina and Bob moved to Pana, IL.
Regina is survived by her daughter, Clarissa Wetherbee of Hepzibah, GA; nieces and nephews, Sonia Susan Lamin (Jeff), Eileen Michelle Gilpin (Robert), Holly Marshall Hopkins (Howard), Edward Franklin Marshall, Chuck Curlis, Joanne Curlis Thomas, and Robert Curlis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob, on September 18, 2021; and five siblings, Rosemary Curlis, Ursula E. Marshall, Ferdinand Metzger, Adolf Metzger and Irwin Metzger.
Regina’s life will be honored privately. Memorials may be given to the Cowden Free Methodist Church and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
