Reta Charlene Swisher, 84, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Pana, IL, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026, in her residence surrounded by family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Greg Vail officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association.
Reta was born on July 16, 1942, in Tuscola IL, the daughter of Orie William and Martha Frances (Shewmake) Perry. She attended Tuscola High School in the Class of 1960. Reta married Robert E. “Bob” Swisher on September 14, 1985. Reta retired from Continental Bondware in Shelbyville, where she was a lead operator. In her retirement, she enjoyed reading, oil painting, and spending time with her grandkids.
Reta is survived by her husband, Bob Swisher; daughter, Kimberly Wiley (Rick) of Shelbyville, IL; sons, Curtis Logue of Shelbyville, IL, Robby Swisher (Nina) of Pana, IL, and Dustin Swisher (Christy) of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Jim Perry (Marlene) of Sachse, TX; grandchildren, Erica Vail (Greg), Whitney LeForge (John), Cody Logue, Jordan Swisher (Allison), Katelyn Swisher (Maddy), Madison Logue (Adam), Larissa Swisher, Natalie Swisher, Cassidy DeClerck (Lance), and Mellony Morgason; great grandchildren, Lilyann Price, Carter Bryson, Kaiyanna LeForge, Elijah LeForge, Casen Logue, Collins Logue, Jaytee Swisher, Tae Swisher, Grady Bly, Oakley Bly, Bodhi Bly, Dontae Swisher, J.T. Swisher, and Shawntae Swisher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Meeks; grandson, Eronn Price; great nephew, Daniel Meeks; mother-in-law, Mary Gregg; brothers-in-law, John Swisher and Terry Swisher; and sisters-in-law, Debbie Swisher and Barbara Swisher.
