Roger Pierce, 79, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2019, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2019, in First United Methodist Church, Shelbyville, IL, with Gary Crowder and Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2019, in the church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

Roger was born on September 23, 1939, in Clarksburg Township, IL, the son of Ross Lawrence and Gussie Fern (Rittgers) Pierce. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1957. Roger co-owned the Phillips 66 Station in Shelbyville with Bob Hendrix from 1965-1975. He then worked as an auto mechanic until his retirement. Roger was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, IL. He loved golfing, playing his guitar, and singing. Roger married Jackie Robison on August 27, 1960, and they have four children, Kelly, Angela, Tyler and Travis.

He is survived by daughters, Kelly (David) Tallman and Angela Oldham all of Shelbyville, IL; twin sons, Tyler Pierce and Travis (Brittany) Pierce all of Shelbyville, IL; twin brother, Richard (Diane) Pierce of Independence, MO; brother-in-law, Paul Hebenstreit of Ramsey, IL; 5 grandchildren, Jack (Mary) Tallman of Mt. Zion, IL, Anna Oldham of Decatur, IL, Elly Oldham of Shelbyville, IL, and Liam and Ivy Pierce both of Shelbyville, IL; one great grandchild, Lane Navis of Shelbyville, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Roger was proceeded in death by his parents, Ross and Gussie; step-mother, Oneita Pierce Truax; brothers, John (Margie) Pierce, Leon (Helen) Pierce; and sisters, Georgianna Pierce in infancy, Doris (Ray) Brown, Frances Hebenstreit, and Shirley (Bob) Pfeiffer.
