Roger G. Shaw

Roger G. Shaw, 73, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 8:54 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday June 26, 2025, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Pastor Don Jefferies officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 25th in the funeral home. Following the visitation, Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Jackson Masonic Lodge #53. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery, near Findlay, IL. Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Fire Protection District.

Roger was born on January 24, 1952, in Red Bud, IL, the son of Gerald “G.W.” and Evelyn (Ervin) Shaw. He graduated from Sparta High School in the Class of 1970 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in Business Management in 1974. While a student at EIU, Roger was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. He began his work career in Shelbyville as a location manager for Moultrie-Shelby FS before becoming a director at Sparks College in Shelbyville. Roger later worked for the State of Illinois, retiring as manager of the Department of Motor Vehicles in Vandalia. Roger married Suzanne Davis on August 9, 1980, and they were blessed with one son, Nick. Roger spent his life serving the community of Shelbyville. He served as the Republican Precinct Committeeman and Shelby County Chairman, Assistant Leader to Boy Scout Troup #51, and was a volunteer fireman and safety officer for the Shelbyville Fire Protection District for 10 years. Roger was also a member of the First Assembly of God, where he served on the board, Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 in Shelbyville, and a former member of the Shelbyville Lions Club.

Roger is survived by his wife, Suzanne; and son, Nick Shaw of Shelbyville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
