Stanley W. Kouns II

Stanley W. Kouns II, 52, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 4:13 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Praise Assembly of God near Charleston, IL with Pastor Ryan Mulvaney officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the church. Memorials may be given to the Coles County Animal Shelter. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Stanley was born on February 23, 1974, in Lebanon, IN, the son of Stanley W. Kouns I and Bonnie L. (Williams) Kouns. In his younger days, Stanley enjoyed participating in Demolition Derbies. He was a mechanic for Pro-Mow Lawn Care in Charleston, IL. Stanley attended Praise Assembly of God near Charleston, IL. He married Phyllis J. Taylor on June 23, 2018.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; son, John Preston (Felicia) of Sumner, IL; daughter, Katie Rigg (Robert) Lerna, IL: nephew, Matt Thomas of Mattoon, IL: brothers, Kenny Kouns of Thorntown, IN, Ivan Kouns of New Market, IN and Carl Kouns of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Tammy Kouns Frazier of Clinton, IN; and grandchildren, Elijah, Jordan, Delainey, Cameron, Mikyla, Scarlet, Robert Jr., Hailie, Aedan, and Sydney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Bonnie Kouns.
