Travis J. Vonderheide

Travis James Vonderheide, 55, of rural Shumway, IL, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2026, in St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.

In keeping with Travis’s wishes, his life will be celebrated privately at a later time.

Travis was born on June 26, 1970, in Springfield, IL, the son of James Henry and Mary Lou (Ruholl) Vonderheide. He graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1988 and then served his country in the U. S. Navy. Travis was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shumway, Wilbur Braughton American Legion Post #611 in Stewardson, and Shelby County Farm Bureau. He married Gina Rene Shumard on July 6, 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Gina; children, Ashley Vonderheide (Mark McAnally) of Broken Arrow, OK, Anyssa Harrington (Jake) of Teutopolis, IL, Amber Danzer (McKenzie) of Winston Salem, NC, Henry Vonderheide of Shumway, IL and Tyler Vonderheide of Shumway, IL: four grandchildren, Colton Harrington, Addison DeFrees, Ava Harrington, and Elliana “Ellie” McAnally; parents, Jim and Mary Lou Vonderheide of Shumway, IL: sisters, Wanda Ohnesorge (Todd) of Stewardson, IL and Jill Winter (Scott) of Altamont, IL; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Shannon Vonderheide.
