Robert W. Hudson, Jr.

(January 20, 1951 – December 18, 2021)

Robert W. “Bob” Hudson, Jr. 70, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in Heritage Health in Pana, IL.

Private family graveside services will be held in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Leon Goff officiating.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Bob was born on January 20, 1951 in Decatur, IL, the son of Robert Wayne and Mary Catherine (Dial) Hudson.  He was the first born of six siblings.  He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1969.  Bob began his working life at A.E. Staley in Decatur and eventually retired from the Litchfield Pipe Factory.  He was a past member of the Masons and also the Pana Eagles Club, where he was an officer.

Bob was married to Marsha Hoffman and together they raised Mathew (Molly) Hoffman of Nokomis.  Matt and Molly blessed them with three beautiful grandchildren, Madigan, Maverick and Maddox.

He is survived by his brother, Kenneth Warren Hudson (Lori) of Findlay, IL; sisters, Gayle Schafer (Mike) of Pana, IL, Sharon Young (Chris) of Charleston, IL and Nancy Eschbaugh of Shelbyville, IL; nieces and nephews, Bryan Robbins (Brooke), Dave Eschbaugh (Mari), Aaron Schafer (Sue), Kelly Barringer (Aaron), Kim Bozinoski (Darren), Michael Payne, and Samantha Jensen (fiancé Brian Prince); and great nieces and nephews, Eric Schafer, Liz Schafer, Marissa Barringer, Toby Barringer, Lacy Barringer, Abby Barringer, Ashlee Robbins, Cameron Robbins, Liam Bozinoski, Nate Bozinoski, and twins, Ava and Owen Jensen.

Bob greatly enjoyed time spent with his siblings and their families.  He was known for his sense of humor and enjoyed any kind of game.  Many games of Farkle were played with his sisters and mother.  Bob had a very special bond with his mother, who passed in 2017.  Often Farkle games were held at the park in Shelbyville or the Shelbyville Dairy Queen.  He always got free lunch included so it was a really good day!

Bob was always ready to go, a trait he inherited from his momma!  We spent many hours just driving through the country side enjoying the view and “deer hunting” from the seat of the car.

He loved all of his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  Bob got renewed enjoyment with the birth of Ava and Owen on Christmas Eve four years ago.  He had the pleasure of attending their birthday party recently.  Bob spent the latter years of his life residing at Lake Towers in Shelbyville and Heritage Health in Pana.  He was known for his helpful spirit and was loved by all.  He will be remembered for his kind heart.  In lieu of flowers and memorials, just be a kinder you and a friend to those who need a friend. Rest in peace, Uncle Bobby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Brenda Hudson in infancy.
