Dave was born on June 27, 1955, in Alton, IL.  He is the son of Robert Jackson and Velma Jane (Blankenship) Calvert.  He graduated from Lakeview High School in the Class of 1973, earned his bachelor’s degree in 1980 from Millikin University, and later received his master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University. Dave was proudly employed with Caterpillar in Decatur, IL working in various roles before retiring in 2013 as Global Purchasing Manager. Dave was a member of Central Christian Church and a long-time member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church in Boody, IL. Dave was actively involved in the Blue Mound community and his church, serving as Treasurer of the Food Pantry, a leader of the Pastor-Parish committee at Zion Chapel, organizing the Blue Mound Fall Festival Lions Club Golf Outing, and coaching his sons’ sports teams. He married Beth Ann Wooters on July 17, 1982.

Many knew the love Dave had for golf, sports teams, and his family. In his lifetime, he hit a hole-in-one twice, including once on a 262-yard Par 4 in 1987. An avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the University of Illinois Fighting Illini, Dave most recently fell in love with LSU football as he proudly watched his son, Derek, on tv as an Athletic Trainer. In retirement, Dave enjoyed visiting his sons in Louisiana and Ohio, golfing with his CAT retiree friends, and traveling with his wife to various places around the country and world.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; sons, Derek (Shalini) of Baton Rouge, LA and Brett of Perrysburg, OH; brother-in-law, Jeff (Heather) Wooters of Shelbyville; and nephews, Brayton and Harrison Wooters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Jane Calvert; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dwight and Dorothy Wooters; and sister-in-law, Becky Fedrigon.

The family would like to thank all the friends who reached out and spent time with Dave over the past year. He had a profound effect on many people, and it brought him much joy to visit with you all.
