Carol P. Wright, 72, of Shelbyville, died at 6:26 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Shelby Memorial Hospital or the American Lung Association.

Carol was born on June 18, 1939 in Shelbyville, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur W. “Art” and Ethel I. McNeese Pfeiffer. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1957 and attended Eastern Illinois University. She was a Life and Securities Agent for Tom C. Jones in Hopkinsville, KY before moving back to Shelbyville in 1996. Carol was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville and Epsilon Sigma Alpha service organization. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, painting, reading, sewing, writing poems and most of all spending time with her grandsons and friends. Carol was a willing listener who was always there for others.

Surviving are her son, Bryan Wright and wife Ruthe of Newport, KY; mother, Ethel Pfeiffer of Shelbyville; brother, Lowell Dean “Bud” Pfeiffer and wife Evie of Sebring, FL; sisters, Jenell Allen and husband Robert of Shelbyville, Ardith Wakefield and husband Ross of Lemont, IL and Vickie Weyand and husband Jon of Josephine, AL; special cousin, Richard Halbrook and wife Wanda of Fayetteville, AR; and two grandsons, Haden and Nolen Wright of Newport, KY.

She was preceded in death by her father, Art Pfeiffer.
