Charles W. “Chuck” King, 78, of Shelbyville, died at 12:42 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 in Shelby Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Pastor Ron Brown officiating. Visitation from one hour before services. Burial will be in Robinson Creek Cemetery near Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Charles was born on January 1, 1933 in Shelby County, Illinois, the son of John Joseph and Dora Kirkendoll King. He attended school in Shelbyville. Charles was a retired welder and an avid fisherman. He married M. Evelyn Boyd on June 20, 1952. She died on January 26, 1998. He married Lorene M. Read Thompson on July 1, 2001.

Surviving are his wife, Lorene; sons, Kenneth King of Conroe, TX and Charles King, Jr. of Houston, TX; daughters, Brenda Martinez and husband Toby and Sheryl Wadkins all of Willis, TX; step-son, Dwight Thompson of Shelbyville; ten grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Evelyn; and son-in-law, Gary Wadkins.
